D. L. Moody (1837-1899) was a American evangelist who founded the Northfield Schools in Massachusetts, Moody Church and Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, and the Colportage Association.
This photograph is a 'Cartes De Visite' probably taken around the year period of 1855-65, found in the same album with U.S. Grant and other members of the Grant family. U. S. Grant attended one of D. L. Moody's revivals as the president of the United States.
